Christian Apologetics Study

The next Arab-Israeli war will probably begin in the year 2014 or shortly after. According to Psalm 83:1-18, Obadiah 1:15-21, and Isaiah 17:1, this coming Middle East conflict will involve the Israeli Defense forces (IDF) fighting against Egyptian, Jordanian, Iraqi, Syrian, and Saudi Arabian forces. The Bible seems to indicate that these Islamic nations will be destroyed with weapons of mass destruction (WMD).  Only Israel will emerge victorious from this Middle East conflict.

The Arab-Israeli conflict remains an ongoing problem because it is largely about warfare, land, religion, economics, food, and water resources. The Arab-Israeli conflict began during the 1880s when the Zionist movement, which call for a Jewish homeland in “Eretz Yisrael” (land of Israel), began settling Ashkenazi Jews in the Ottoman controlled district of Palestine. Violence between Zionist Jews and the indigenous Arab population erupted because of the sale of land to Jews.

After defeating the Ottoman Army in the First World War, the British were given a League of Nations mandate to control Palestine. Later, Palestinian nationalism began to evolve in response to the Zionist movement. From 1936 to 1939, British-ruled Palestine was wracked by Arab revolts. By 1948, Palestine was in the middle of a chaotic civil war involving the Jews, the Arabs, and the British.

1948 WAR

The Arab-Israeli conflict changed when the state of Israel was created. In November 1947, the U.N. General Assembly passed a resolution calling for the division of British-rule of Palestine and the creation of two states, one Jewish and one Arab. In May 1948, the British left, and David Ben-Gurion, who was Irael’s first prime minister, declared the independence of a Jewish state, which supported the U.N. resolution.

The surrounding Arab states invaded the new country the day it was founded, and Egypt and Jordan (then called Transjordan) took much of the territory that the United Nations had given to Palestinian Arabs. During this period, approximately 750, 000 Arab refugees fled from their homes; thus, causing more Arab rage toward the Jews.

Arab Palestinians refer to the events of 1948 as “al-naqba” (the catastrophe) and they argue that Arab refugees were deliberately driven out because of an Israeli campaign of ethnic cleansing. However, Israelis argue that the Arabs’ own leaders told them to flee to let the invading Arab armies wipe out Israel. Some Arab and Israeli historians argue that the Palestinian refugee problem is the product of war and not design by either side.

In other words, although some local Israeli commanders expelled Palestinian civilians from their homes, the collapse of the Palestinians’ social order in the face of war, chaos, and a weak Arab clan-based leadership structure helped created the Palestinian refugee problem.

1956 AND 1967 WARS

In 1956, the Israelis chose the opportunity created by the Anglo-French attempt to retake the Suez Canal to launch their own attack on Egypt. Public opinion eventually forced the withdrawal of the British and French, and although the Israelis had achieved military victory, they found themselves barred from usage of the Canal by Egypt, which was in control of the Suez Canal.

In 1967, the Egyptians closed the Gulf of Aqaba to Israeli shipping, and this together with continued exclusion from the Suez Canal prompted Israel to launch a six-day war against Egypt, Syria, and Jordan. The Arab armies were badly defeated, and the Israelis occupied additional territory including the Jordanian sector of the city of Jerusalem. In addition, the war left the Arab world stunned and the Palestinians split into three main groups.

Although the Arabs armies were defeated, the Arabs refused to sign any peace treaty with Israel. Palestinian refugees living in camps in states bordering Israel created significant problems. In 1964, a Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) was formed to fight for the establishment of an Arab Palestinian state on territory taken from Israel on the west bank of the Jordan River. Yasir Arafat’s al-Fatah organization, took control the PLO shortly after the Six Day War. The PLO resorted to terrorist tactics both against Israel and other states in support of their liberation movement.

1973 AND 2006 WARS

In October 1973, the Egyptians and Syrians launched an attack on Israel known as the Yom Kippur War. With some difficulty the attacks were repulsed by the Israeli Army. A settlement was mediated by American Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.

After years of terrorism operations, in 2006 Hezbollah kidnaps two Israeli soldiers and kills three Israeli soldiers in Israeli territory. The Israeli Defense Forces launches offensive combat operations against Hezbollah, which responds with over 4,000 rockets aimed at civilian and military targets throughout northern Israel. The United Nations Security Council passes Resolution 1701 calling for a conclusion to hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah where both warring factions concurred.

In November 2012, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) launched Operation Pillar of Cloud and the IDF exterminated Hamas strategic mastermind Ahmad Jabbari. This IDF operation began after a week of many rocket attacks launched from Gaza toward Israel’s southern cities. The Israeli Air Force (IAF) and IDF targeted many weapons facilities throughout Gaza with tactical missiles. Since then numerous rockets fell on Israel’s Southern and Central regions. The rockets even reached both Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. A few Israelis died in the central town of Kiryat Malachi following a direct hit on an apartment building where several people were hurt, including children.

>While many Gazan casualties were Hamas militants, unfortunately a few civilian casualties occurred. Despite the fact that Hamas fighters launches their attacks from civilian populated centers in Gaza, the civilian casualties are surprisingly low. Many IDF reservists were called-up to participate in another ground operation in Gaza. This time IDF completed its mission of temporarily removing militants from Gaza who were firing rockets on Israeli citizens.

In 2014, the most immediate threat to Israeli Jews and Palestinian Arabs will be the proliferation of chemical, biological, nuclear weapons, and medium to long range nuclear missiles acquired from the former Soviet Republics and the Federation of Russia. According to Psalm 83:1-18, Obadiah 1:1-21, and Isaiah 17:1, Mideast peace within the near future remains highly unlikely because of the recent Mideast revolutions facilitating militant Islamic control of the region. Furthermore, the blood moons will occur in 2014 and  2015 and blood moons are sometimes associated with warfare and persecution of Jews worldwide, according to a few eschatology experts. Therefore, the years 2014 to 2015 period could erupt into an all-out Mideast war involving chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons.

Analysis of biblical eschatology reveals that there are three wars that will soon take place in the Middle East.  Each conflict is progressive and becomes larger in scope, until the entire world and every nation participate in the final global war.

The first war involves Israel against her surrounding Arab neighbors and it will probably begin in the year 2015 or shortly afterwards. Because of terrorism and insurgency, the fighting will linger on for a few years.  The words of Psalm 83, Obadiah 1:15-21, and Isaiah 17:1 indicates that these Muslim nations will be defeated with weapons of mass destruction.  This war will display God’s judgment against militant Islam directly surrounding Israel, which is referred to as the house of Esau in several places.  This war will result in a ring of destruction to the south, to the north, and to the east of Israel.  The nations defeated are:  Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Syria, and Saudi Arabia.  Major areas of land will become partially impassible because of nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons utilization. Because the ground of these regions will become partially poisoned, nothing living will remain and grow in certain areas of the Middle East.  Portions of the Middle East regions surrounding Israel will be on fire like Kuwait was during the 1991 Gulf War. Following the war, many Arab people will immigrate to the U.S. and Europe, while many within the Jewish community will immigrate to Israel because of increasing anti-Semitism against Jews worldwide.

The second major war involves Israel against a coalition of nations led by Russia. This second war is often called the war of Gog and Magog and this conflict will probably occur sometime between 2018 and 2038.  The conclusion of the first war will facilitate the formation of a coalition of Muslim nations led by Russia to attack Israel again some years later.  Russia will be under the leadership of disciplined and charismatic leader, but he will be decisively defeated by earthquakes, hail stones, and confusion on the mountains of Israel.   In Ezekiel chapters 38-39, the prophet describes this second conflict in complete detail.  This prophecy was written 2,600 years ago.  Ezekiel lists a confederacy of nations, which include Turkey, Iran, Libya, Ethiopia, parts of Eastern Europe, and other unnamed nations.  However, something strange appears immediately when we read the list of attacking nations.  The prophet fails to mention the countries directly bordering Israel.  These countries are Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria.  The reason these nations are not mentioned is that they were all destroyed in the first war.

The third war involves a coalition force representing every nation against Israel.  This final war is called Armageddon. This war will probably begin in the year 2042 before ending in the year 2045. This war can be found primarily in Revelation chapter 19, Zachariah chapter 9, and Daniel chapters 10 and 11. This war will include the final battle between God and evil before the coming of Yeshua the Messiah to rule and reign on the earth.  In this battle, God supernaturally intervenes and destroys the largest fielded army in history.  This battle ends man’s corrupt and sinful rule over the nations.  Armageddon is the third and final attempt to destroy Israel and take Jerusalem.

The dates assigned to these wars are pure speculation because no man or woman knows the exact day of Messiah Yeshua’s return (Matthew 24: 36). However, this author believes that the dates are good indicators for where we are on God’s prophetic calendar. If a biblical generation equals 100 years, then Messiah Yeshua should return to Earth sometime before or during the year 2048 because Israel was reborn during the year 1948.  While Messiah could delay his coming beyond 2048, this author believes that Messiah will return either before or during that year. Bear in mind, while there are numerous signs for Messiah’s return at the Battle of Armageddon, there are no prophetic signs for Messiah return for the Church because the rapture can occur at any moment during today or tomorrow. Therefore, we should all embrace Messiah Yeshua today to escape from the terrible wars coming in the future.

Yitzhak Kaduri was an Israeli rabbi, a Kabbalist, and a scholar of Jewish mysticism who rose from obscurity to become a significant force in Israeli politics in the 1990s. Kaduri settled in Palestine in the early 1920s. By the 1990s he had become a venerated religious leader in Israel, particularly among ultra-Orthodox and North African Jews, many of whom formed the core of the Shas political party. Kaduri’s public endorsement of Benjamin Netanyahu was considered crucial to the Likud leader’s 1996 election as prime minister. In 2000 Kaduri professed that he had seen a vision in which heaven favored the then little-known Moshe Katzav for president over former Prime Minister Shimon Peres. In 2006, President Katzav spoke a eulogy at Kaduri’s funeral, which drew a crowd of some 250,000 mourners. Before Rabbi Kaduri’s death, the prophet gave several predictions related to the end times and Messiah Yeshua’s return.

On 24 September 2001, Rabbi Kaduri prophesied that the Gog and Magog War will commence and will last for seven or more years, according to Arutz Sheva Israel National Radio broadcast. The Gog and Magog War can be found in the Book of Ezekiel chapters 38 and 39. This war involves a coalition of Islamic nations led by Russia against Israel, America, and the Western European powers. In other words, the war probably describes world war three.

In the early winter of 2004, following a private session with another Rabbi, Rabbi Kaduri declared “I have just seen the face of the Messiah.” In Judaism, the Messiah is the expected king of the line of David who will deliver the Jews from foreign bondage and restore Israel’s golden age. The term used for the messiah in the Greek New Testament, christos, was applied to Yeshua (Jesus), who is accepted by Christians as the promised redeemer.

On 12 December 2004, Rabbi Kaduri predicted “great tragedies in the world are foreseen.” He pointed to the direction of catastrophes as being in the region ”where Jews are going to the East,” according to Yediot Acharonot News. Rabbi Kaduri also announced to the Israeli press, “the Messiah is already in Israel.”

On 24 December 2004, Rabbi Kaduri predicted the great Indian Ocean tsunami where over 230,000 people died on 26 December 2004. This tsunami was one of the deadliest natural disasters in recorded history. Indonesia was the hardest-hit country, followed by Sri Lanka, India, and Thailand.

On 14 September 2004, Rabbi Kaduri declared that it was imperative for the Jewish community to return to the Land of Israel because of the terrible natural disasters threatening the world. The Rabbi believed the Jewish year from 2005 to 2006 was the year of “Secret and Revelation” when the real Jewish Messiah would be revealed, according Arutz Sheva National Radio show.

On Rosh Hashanah 2005, Rabbi Kaduri entered into a deep concentration period for roughly 45 minutes during an afternoon prayer session. Suddenly he raised his head smiling and declaring “the Messiah’s soul has attached himself to a person in Israel.”

On 28 January 2006, Rabbi Kaduri breathed his last breath following a brief battle with pneumonia. Before his death, he left his last testimony in a sealed envelope with instructions that it should not be opened until one year after his death.  When the envelope was finally opened, Rabbi Kaduri wrote that he met the Messiah, who will shortly return to Israel following former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s death. He also wrote that name of the Messiah was Yehoshua, which is the long pronunciation for the name Yeshua, or Jesus Christ.

If Rabbi Kaduri’s predictions are from God, then Yeshua is the real Messiah for the Jewish people and the rest of humanity. When Ariel Sharon dies, the final 70th week of Daniel’s prophecy will begin sometime later (Daniel chapters 9 to 12 and Revelation chapters 4 to 19). The Christian Church will be raptured to Heaven before the seven year tribulation period (1-Thessalonians 4:16 and 1-Corinthians 15:50-55). And Messiah Yeshua will return to Earth during the great Battle of Armageddon (Revelation 19). Rabbi Kaduri’s predictions appear to be 100 percent accurate partly because they parallel biblical eschatology.

On the fifth and sixth creation day God made different marine and land animal kinds. Many of these animal kinds were aquatic and land dinosaurs.  The Holy Scriptures use the words behemoth, leviathan, and dragon to describe the dinosaurs. The word “dinosaur” was invented by Sir Richard Owen in 1841. Before that time they were known as dragons. Dragons are mentioned 34 times in the Bible. Dinosaurs lived during the pre-flood era as plant eaters and during the post-flood era as both meat eaters and plant eaters. The pre-flood era lasted for 10 generations. Many dinosaurs were killed during the worldwide flood thousands of years ago. The few dinosaurs that survived the global flood inside Noah’s Ark became extinct by A.D. 1850. A few cryptozoology, zoology, and paleontology experts believe that dinosaurs are still alive in remote areas worldwide.

The biblical word behemoth seems to refer to a specific land animal that is large, powerful, and majestic. Many biblical creation scientists believe this animal is a gigantic dinosaur. In the book of Job, chapter 40, verses 15-24, the biblical record states, “Behold now behemoth, which I created with thee; he eateth grass like and ox.” The Creator goes on to describe behemoth as having a tail like and entire cedar tree and as being the chief of the ways of God. What creature is the chief of the ways of God? A dinosaur named Seismosaurus is the largest dinosaur found to date, and it could raise its head 70 feet in the air, from snout to tail was 140 feet long, and weighed almost 200,000 pounds, according to Dr. Carl Baugh.

Other dinosaurs similar to the behemoth were the Barosaurus, Brachiosaurus, and Camarasaurus. Barosaurus roamed parts of the United States and Tanzania in east Africa. The name means “heavy lizard.” This plant-eating dinosaur probably used its long tail like a whip for self-defense. This enormous sauropod’s neck had 15 vertebrae. Some of its bones were larger than a baseball bat. The hollow vertebrae cut down on its neck weight. Three full grown Barosaurus dinosaurs lined up would equal a football field in length. Likewise, Brachiosaurus lived in the United States, Portugal, and Africa. Its name means “arm lizard.” This gigantic sauropod’s shape was very similar to a giraffe with a very long tail. Barchiosaur used its sharp teeth to feed on tree tops.  This sauropod’s nostrils sat on top of its head. Brachiosaurus lived on land near the swampy areas. Additionally, Camarasaurus means “chambered lizard.” The name comes from its hollow vertebrae. Camarasaurus lived in North America and walked on four feet. Each foot had five toes. Camarasaurus had sharp teeth that were longer than a banana. These teeth allowed Camarasaurus to chew tough, stringy plants. Its skull was nearly square. Its nostrils are located in front of its eyes to help cool its small brain.

The Leviathan is the biblical description for a marine dinosaur.  This reptile’s physical characteristics are described in Job 41, Psalm 104:25,26, and Isaiah 27:1. It was massively strong. It had a firm, solid anatomy that could not be moved (Job 41:12,22-24). It was mostly a sea creature, but did spend some time on land; it was known as “the monster of the sea” (Job 41: 31-32, Isaiah 27:1, Psalm 104:25-26). It couldn’t be subdued and taken captive or sold in the market place (Job 41:3-6,9). No one wanted to fight it and if someone dared to once, they would never do it again. There was no one fierce enough to conquer it (Job 41:8-10). It had a huge mouth that was lined with many teeth (Job 41:14). Sparks and fire flew from its mouth and smoke poured from its nostrils, meaning, this reptile could most likely breathe fire (Job 41:18-21).  It has a tight, impenetrable coat. It was protected by the “rows of shields” on its back (Job 41:13, 15-17). Fishhooks, ropes, harpoons, swords, javelins, clubs, and arrows meant nothing to this sea monster. It laughed at those who approached him with these weapons because they could never harm it. These weapons were weak to this monster (Job 41:1-2, 7, 26-29).

The recently discovered species Sarcosuchus imperator has led many creation science researchers to hold it as most likely candidate for the Leviathan. This large marine reptile that was dubbed “SuperCroc” was first discovered in 1966 and its fossilized remains were found in the Tenere Desert of Niger in North Africa in 2000. About 50 percent of its skeleton was found in the 2000 trip to Niger. The Sarcosuchus was a massive animal that measured forty feet and weighed up to ten tons. His jaw alone measured up to six feet long and housed over one hundred, huge teeth. Interestingly, the SuperCroc skull found in the Niger that was found had a bulbous structure at the end of his snout. This could have been used for a strong sense of smell or for mating calls. Another possibility is that perhaps this open cavity was used for breathing fire. In general, the physical descriptions of the Sarcosuchus are very similar to that of Job 41 in the Bible. The SuperCroc’s name comes from its great size, because it was twice as long as the longest recorded crocodile and ten times as heavy. In general, the physical descriptions of the Sarcosuchus are very similar to that of Job 41 in the Bible. It must have been one of the greatest animals on the earth and feared by many, and therefore considered by many as the most likely candidate to be the Leviathan.

A few creation researchers believe that Kronosaurus is the Leviathan described in Job 41. This marine dinosaur is an extinct sea giant that had a short neck and huge body. This marine animal was a member of the group Plesiosauria and a part of the family Dolichorhynchopidae. The first remains of the animal were discovered in the 1920s and have been found in Australia and South America. Its body measured between thirty and fifty feet long and weighed between eight and ten tons. Its diet consisted of fish, turtles, and other large marine animals. There have been fossilized turtles and pleiosaurs (long necked reptiles) found in the fossilized Kronosaurus. The Kronosaurus had the ferocious bite needed to be the Leviathan, but he lacked certain other features. It had no “armor like scales” to protect itself from arrows, swords, and javelins. Also, its four flippers were better suited for swimming in the sea, but the Leviathan spent time both on land and in water. Finally, there is lack of evidence that the Kronosaurus could have breathed fire or snorted smoke.

The biblical word dragon usually describes post-flood predatory dinosaurs that lived in the sea and on land. The most famous predatory dinosaur was Tyrannosaurus Rex. Tyrannosaurs (from Greek τύραννος, tiranos and σαῦρος, sauros, meaning “tyrant lizard”) belong to the theropods. Tyrannosaurids comprise the family Tyrannosauridae, a group of 16 to 40ft dinosaurs that lived during pre-flood and early post flood era. Before the flood these theropods were vetegitarians, but after the flood they became meat eaters.  The Tyrannosauridae included such similar as Albertosaurus, Gorgosaurus, Daspletosaurus, Tarbosaurus, and of course Tyrannosaurus rex. Remains of tyrannosaurids have been found in North America (including Alaska), India, Mongolia and Japan. Tyrannosaurs are surprisingly common in many North American fossil beds, especially their large, serrated teeth, which they shed periodically like most archosaurs.

These two-legged carnivores had huge heads filled with teeth up to 7 inches long. Tyrannosaurids had short tails and huge muscular rear limbs with three toes. Short but deep jaws with banana-sized sharp teeth, long hind limbs, small beady eyes, and tiny forelimbs (arms) typify a tyrannosaur. T. rex was one of the largest terrestrial carnivores of all time. It stood approximately 15 feet high and was about 40 feet in length, roughly six tons in weight. In its large mouth were six-inch long, sharp, serrated teeth. Most large living predators do scavenge meat happily when it is available, but most do prefer fresh meat. Its arms were too weak to grab prey, but sharks, wolves, snakes, lizards and even many birds are successful predators without using their forelimbs. Creation scientists typically interpret the Earth’s geology as the result of the Biblical flood of Noah. The Tyrannosaurs, like all dinosaurs, are believed to have perished during this catastrophe, but were reintroduced following the flood and became extinct subsequently.

Before the great flood the ancestors of the behemoth, leviathan, and dragons were all plant eating dinosaurs. However, after the worldwide deluge some of these sauropod and theropod dinosaurs became carnivores because the great flood destroyed some of the vegetation these reptiles eat. If dinosaurs are still alive today, these creatures would be significantly smaller in size because of the changes in the post-flood climatic and environmental conditions.  Because dragon legends, dinosaur drawings, and dinosaur cave paintings are found in every ancient human civilization, this evidence confirms humans and dinosaurs live around the same time in the primeval past.
