Who or what were the Nephilim? The Nephilim (gigantic hybrid humans) were the offspring of sexual relationships between the sons of God (fallen angels) and daughters of men (human females) in Genesis 6:1–4. The “sons of God” were fallen angels who mated with human females. These unions resulted in offspring of the Nephilim (genetic hybrid humans), who were “heroes of old, men of renown” (Genesis 6:4). Many of the pre-flood and early post-flood Nephilim were gigantic in their physical size ranging from 9 to 36 feet tall and weighing from 900 to 3,600 pounds. When the Nephilim giants were destroyed during the global flood of Noah’s day, their dead bodies released demons to wonder Earth until Judgment when God will send them to a fiery everlasting damnation located at the center of the Earth.
Why would fallen angels do such a thing? The fallen angels are evil, twisted beings, who all hate God and humankind. The fallen angels were attempting to increase their numbers on the Earth by polluting the human bloodline in order to prevent the coming of Messiah Yeshua. God had promised that the Messiah would one day crush the head of the serpent, Satan (Genesis 3:15). The fallen angels in Genesis 6 were possibly attempting to prevent the crushing of the serpent and make it impossible for a sinless “seed of the woman” to be born.
What were the Nephilim? According to Hebraic and other legends (the books of Enoch, Jasher, Jubilees, and other non-biblical paleo Hebrew writings), they were a race of giants and super-heroes who did acts of great evil. Their great size and power likely came from the mixture of fallen angelic “DNA” with human genetics. The Bible says that they were “heroes of old, men of renown” (Genesis 6:4). The Nephilim were not aliens, angels, “Watchers,” or rock monsters; they were literal, physical beings produced from the union of the fallen angels and human females (Genesis 6:1–4).
What happened to the Nephilim? The Nephilim were one of the primary reasons for the global flood in Noah’s time. Immediately after the mention of Nephilim, God’s Word says, “The LORD saw how great man’s wickedness on the Earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. The LORD was grieved that he had made man on the Earth, and his heart was filled with pain. So the LORD said, ‘I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth, men and animals, and creatures that move along the ground, and birds of the air, for I am grieved that I have made them’” (Genesis 6:5–7). God proceeded to flood the entire Earth, killing everyone and everything other than Noah, his family, and the animals on the ark. All else perished, including the Nephilim population (Genesis 6:11–22).
Were there Nephilim after the flood? Genesis 6:4 tells us, “The Nephilim hybrids were on the Earth in those days, and also afterward.” The fallen angels repeated their sin sometime after the global flood. However, it took place to a much lesser extent than it did prior to the global flood. When the Israelites spied out Canaan land, they reported back to Moses: “We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them” (Numbers 13:33). It appears that after the flood the fallen angels again mated with human females, producing more Nephilim hybrids. These “giants” were destroyed by the Israelites during their invasion of Canaan (Joshua 11:21–22) and later in their history (Deuteronomy 3:11; 1 Samuel 17). According to the research of Dr. L.A. Marzulli and Stephen Qualye, the Nephilim migrated from the Middle East region and they populated the regions of North, Central, and South America. They also populated the regions of North Africa, central Europe, and central Asia. According to Dr. Chuck Missler, post-flood Nephilim hybrids would be smaller in physical size because the post-flood atmosphere no longer facilitates optimum genetic expression. This means that modern Nephilim hybrids would range from 6 to 18 feet tall and they wound weigh around 200 to 1800 pounds.
What prevents the fallen angels from producing more Nephilim today? It seems that God put an end to fallen angels mating with humans by placing all the fallen angels who committed such an act in isolation. Jude verse 6 tells us, “The angels who did not keep their posi
Will the fallen angels commit the same evil in the future? The passages found in Daniel, Matthew, and Revelation reveals that following the pre-tribulation rapture the fallen angels will return to Earth and create Nephilim hybrids again similar to how they made these hybrids during the days of Noah (Matthew 24:37). According to Daniel 2:43, “And as the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly fragile. As you saw iron mixed with ceramic clay, they will mingle with the seed of men; but they will not adhere to one another, just as iron does not mix with clay.” The words mingle with the seed of men refers to genetic manipulation of human populations to accelerate the lie of “human evolution.” According to 2 Thessalonians 2:3, “Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition.” The Greek words for falling away should have been translated departure away, which sketches the rapture of Church Saints. The Greek words for man of sin describe the Anti-Messiah (Anti-Christ) and the Greek words son of perdition really means son of Satan. This passage reveals that Satan who is a fallen angel will father a son that Scripture refers to as the Anti-Christ or Anti-Messiah. This means that the coming Anti-Messiah will be a Nephilim hybrid.
