ARE BIBLE CODES REAL?

While it is true that God has decorated His Holy Scriptures with codes and hidden information, many Bible researchers reject the Bible Codes because of four reasons. First, scholars reject the bible codes because code researchers can find whatever codes they want to find in God’s Holy Scriptures. For example, if we search for words saying Yeshua is a false messiah, we can find equidistant letter spacing (ELS) in the Bible confirming this search. Many anti-Christian researchers are quick to show codes saying Yeshua is not the Messiah. On the other hand, if we search for words saying Yeshua is the Messiah, we can find terms in ELS confirming this search. The late Dr. Grant Jeffrey and Rabbi Yacov Rambsel have produced books showing codes in every Messianic passage saying Yeshua is the Messiah.

Second, scholars reject the bible codes because code researchers can find ELS codes inside any large book of significant size. Researchers find ELS codes in the Greek Septuagint, the New Testament Christian Scriptures, the King James Version English Bible, the Seder Olam, the Book of Jasher, the Book of Jubilees, and the Book of Enoch.

The third reason why the Bible Codes have gone out of fashion is that many mathematicians and statisticians have disproven the existence of ELS codes. Mathematicians and statisticians have shown that any large text will have similar ELS letter patterns. The same algorithms used in the Bible Codes yielded similarly “prophetic” results when used on Hebrew translations of “War and Peace.”

The fourth reason why many biblical scholars reject the ELS codes is partly because the ELS codes originate from the corrupt Masoretic Text (MT). Textual analysis show that the MT suffers from deliberate alterations designed to disprove that Yeshua is the Messiah. Earlier versions of God’s Holy Scriptures are different from the MT in areas of Chronology (Genesis 5 and 11) and eschatology (Isaiah 7:14). If the MT resulted from copying errors and deliberate changes, then it appears unlikely that many of its ELS codes are real.

While many of the ELS codes are not significant codes, bible teachers, like the late Dr. Chuck Missler, find real bible codes in the names of the pre-flood patriarchs. For example,   Adam means Man, Seth means Appointed, Enosh means Mortal, Kenan means Sorro

w,  Mahalalel means The Blessed God, Jared means Shall come down, Enoch means Teaching, Methuselah means His death shall bring, Lamech means The Despairing, and Noah means Rest, or comfort. When Dr. Missler analyzed the meaning in the pre-flood patriarch names, he discovered the gospel message in Genesis, which says man is appointed mortal sorrow, but the blessed God shall come down teaching and His death shall bring the despairing rest and comfort.

BIBLE CODES ANALYSIS

While this author found bible codes related to significant personalities and events worldwide, many of these codes are accidental and the codes could not be trusted. The bible codes are not good for Christian apologetics (defense of the faith) because ELS codes are decorated with problems and unsolved issues. Furthermore, the whole idea of Bible codes originates from the occult philosophy of cabalism, which is an unreliable and over-speculative method of Bible interpretation. Anti-Christian groups use Bible codes to explain away the deity of Messiah Yeshua and discredit Christianity. Good Bible interpretation will always begin with the plain text, and believers should not try to read some esoteric meaning into it, according to the late eschatologist and bible scholar Zolah Levitt.
